Shrink vs Mom round 1
My shrink cracks me up.
He is very optimistic, and understands what I say. We talk for about fourty-five minutes and then bring my room into his office.
And then he and my mom duke it out for a good ten minutes. Over me. She talks as though I'm not even there ("One of Anna's greatest fears, I think, is of putting all of her effort into one cause and failing.") and he tries to address me, acknowledge me, and the issue at hand, ("Anna and I, we've discussed this, and she's been trying to think more rationally- and has been. Anna, you understand that just because you fail trig, you will not end up a bag lady on the street." "Yes she will! Who fails trig!")
and on and on and on it goes.
I think watching this man fight off the temptation to tell my mother to rot in hell is the highlight of my week.
