strap the woman down
Okay, so when your mother is ill, and just returning from a major surgery and restless (and WILL NOT stay in bed like she's supposed to) DO NOT tell her that she can just lay there for all you care, and offer to get a bottle of febreeze to hose her down. She will get cranky and try to hurt you. This is when you should give her some more sedatives, but instead comment that she WILL stay in bed, even if you have to strap the woman down.
